Little Jiggling Particles
—a performance featuring a brass band and giant balloons. The balloons act as resonators that carry waves of vibration you can feel with your fingertips, feet or your whole body. Unplugged, untethered and unimpeded, musicians, balloons and guests are free to move and bounce amongst each other. Volume: loud! This performance is open & accessible to all, including deaf and hard of hearing participants.
Orchestrated by artist Wendy Jacob with members of the Santa Cruz High School Cardinal Regiment Marching Band and the Los Gatos High School Marching Band.
“Wendy Jacob has been making and exhibiting work since 1988, always with a keen interest in the negotiation and understanding of architectural and domestic spaces. With work that expands the sensory dimensions of art, she invites the blind and hard of hearing to experience galleries and museums primarily through touch rather than sight and sound, subsequently subverting the able-bodied visitor’s expectations of the white cube, asking them to reconsider and reframe their point of view.” — Emily McDermott, Artpapers
